The American Woman's Cookbook, edited by Ruth Berolzheimer, Director of the Culinary Arts Institue. A very comprehensive "how to" cook book published in 1945 with over 800 pages of recipes.  The book includes interesting topics on "How to feed a family of five on $20 a week", "How to Dress a Table", "Canning, Preserving and Jelly Making.", "Weekly Menus". This had to be the book that taught our mothers and grandmothers how to cook!

Pages are pretty clean, however the brownie recipe page has the most food spills. Must have been a family favorite.  Note the image. The book has been shelved and reshelved many times over the years as it shows fraying on top and bottom of cover.
