Antique Red Satin Glass Embossed Miniature Lamp. Late 1800s to early 1900s era. A beautiful Victorian-era lamp that glows between red and deep red-orange color when there is light coming from behind the lamp. There are six embossed panels to the base that alternate between scrollwork with netting and a lion's head. It comes with a long wick and a clear glass chimney.
There is a blemish that occurred during production located at the top, as pictured, that is not a crack and does not go through the glass. It doesn't affect how it works or take away from its charm. The tulip-shaped shade has a couple of chips on the top inside of the rim. Note images. Nice addition to any collection or cottage-style decor.
Listed in its original antique state and could use a little cleaning. Decorative miniature oil lamps are over 100 years old. They were in daily use. The burners were produced with very thin brass and were often screwed onto the body a little too tightly. More times than not they have small stress fissures going straight up the screw section. They are still usable and can only be seen if you are looking for them.
